Charlie’s Canine Camp
Overview
About Charlie’s Canine Camp
Charlie's Canine Camp is the only trainer on this hub that sits inside Geneva itself. It is a 20-acre site on Hayes Road that the owners bought as a horse farm and rebuilt as a pet-care facility, and it opened in December 2024 – which makes it the newest room in the region and the one most likely to have space in a class.
What is offered
The site publishes four services: pet lodging for dogs and cats, dog day camp, dog grooming, and training and educational classes. The training line is described as basic and intermediate obedience classes for an owner and their puppy, with private trainings also named on the home page, and the school describes its staff as certified trainers. Educational seminars are listed alongside the classes.
How it came about
The timeline on the About page is the school's own. Amy Hayes contacted Lauren Burdsall's pet-sitting business in 2015 for help with her three Newfoundlands; the two formed Charlie's Canine Camp LLC in early 2020, bought the 20-acre horse farm later that year, spent 2023 assembling a team and designing the facility, and opened in December 2024. Both are listed as owner, trainer and camp director. A third trainer, Lydia Premo, is listed as trainer and camp counselor, with a professional groomer and camp counselors making up the rest of the team.
Reading the site
One caveat worth stating plainly: parts of the site still carry placeholder text from the template it was built on, including filler paragraphs and a generic contact address. The service pages, team page, address and hours are real and consistent; treat the marketing copy in between with the same caution you would give any new site that has not finished its copy pass.
Practical notes
Hours are Monday to Friday 7am to 7pm with weekends by appointment, which is a wider window than most of the region's one-person training practices can offer. Grooming is priced on the site in three tiers. For an owner in Geneva, Waterloo or Seneca Falls, this is the shortest drive to a group obedience class in the whole hub.
Who it’s best for
Best for a Geneva owner who wants a group class or a puppy class close to home, or who wants training, day camp and boarding from one place.
