Connected Canine LLC is a licensed and insured dog training business in Stonington whose motto is "Training both sides of the leash!" It aims to build trust and respect between owners and their dogs, and it trains the owner as well as the dog. New clients start with a free consultation by phone or in person.

Method

Connected Canine describes a balanced approach: rewarding and praising a dog for doing the right thing while also letting it know when it is doing the wrong thing. Food, treats, praise, play and toys are used as rewards, and slip leads, prong collars or e-collars may be recommended, though owners are never forced to use a tool they are uncomfortable with.

Programs and prices

Board and train has the dog live in the trainer's home for 2-3 weeks, with tools included, at $2,165 for two weeks or $3,165 for three. Private sessions are $95 per hour plus tax in person or $45 virtually, with packages of 4 sessions for $340 or 8 for $640. Boarding at $50 a night is available to past training clients.
