About Cooperative K9

Built around a dog nobody else would take

Cooperative K9s tells its origin story on the Our Story page: in 2013 the family got their first dog, Vader, and the next day a veterinarian said in front of their ten-year-old son, “He is a vicious beast. You should do the world a favor and put him to sleep.” They were told he would need years of work with a behaviorist. Instead they worked with him themselves, and the page says that “within a year he was CGC certified and attends work with us, also helps us work with reactive dogs.” The conclusion the site draws is the business model: “So many places will turn away dogs for behavior issues, or because of size, breed or worse they feel the need to ‘break the dog down.’ That’s not us.”

Services and how they are sold

The services page covers basic obedience and behavioral training and is written around flexibility: one-on-one training, group classes, in-home training, memberships and customizable packages, with mix-and-match bundles that combine group classes, private lessons and in-home services “with as few or as many hours as you want.” The page notes that the framing is deliberate: “We understand that training is subjective, it should suit your lifestyle, wants, & needs.”

Booking terms

A first fifteen-minute phone consultation is free when available; a first in-person consultation is charged as a private lesson or in-home visit at the regular rate. Group and private lessons in store run Saturday and Sunday afternoons and Monday through Wednesday, with in-home training on Thursdays and Fridays. In-home pricing and the trip charge are per visit, with the trip charge based on distance from the trainer’s home address in Sugar Grove. A signed training agreement is required before classes start, payment is due in full at or before the first service, and there is a 24 hour cancellation policy. The site does not print the trainers’ names or its class rates.
