About Lucky Dog Academy

Classes and dog sports in Plainfield

Lucky Dog Academy runs an indoor training facility at 14903 Center Street, Unit 103, near downtown Plainfield. It offers puppy, obedience, agility, nosework, rally, Canine Good Citizen, therapy dog and behavior training.

Two tracks

Classes are split into a Pet track for well-mannered family dogs and a Performance track for formal or competitive obedience. Puppies 5 months and under can take the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy class, which covers housebreaking, jumping, nipping and basic cues. A Pre-Sport Puppy class builds self control, drive and body awareness for future sport dogs. Obedience runs from beginner to advanced, followed by a CGC class and a therapy dog class.

Other options

Private sessions and in-home training are available, though group classes are recommended where possible. Day training lets your dog work with a trainer while you are at work.

Method

All training is positive and force-free, and correction or electric collars are not permitted in the building.

What to ask

Ask which track fits your goals, check the class schedule, and note that puppy classes need vaccine and fecal-test records.
