About DARK K9 Sports

What it is

DARK K9 Sports is a dock diving facility at 572 Allen Ison Rd. in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, "just off the Bourbon Trail near Herrington Lake." It describes itself as "a dock diving destination for NADD competitions, individual and group lessons, pool rentals, canine birthday parties, seasonal memberships, and outdoor dog sport fun." It is a dog-sport venue rather than an obedience school.

Lessons and pool time

Newcomers are welcome alongside competitors: "Whether you're a seasoned competitor or a newcomer to the sport, DARK K9 Sports provides a welcoming environment for K9 enthusiasts." Owners can book lessons, pool rentals, "confidence swims, and conditioning time." Seasonal members receive 10 pool rentals for the season. The pool has a mobility hoist to assist "dogs and handlers of many abilities" and an entry and exit ramp, and pool time is pitched to "senior dogs, dogs returning from injury, and teams who want low-impact exercise, confidence, and safe water time."

Competitions

The facility hosts NADD events in Distance, Air Retrieve and Hydro Dash, runs a season-long facility championship, and posts run orders and results for competitors.

Before you visit

All dogs must be current on rabies, DHPP and Bordetella, with Bordetella every six months and shots given at least 10 days before the visit. The venue is outdoors, so "grass, gravel, mud, slopes, and weather can affect access." Request a booking through the calendar on the site or call 859-221-0885, and ask about lesson prices when you book.
