About Dog Logic
Who they are
Dog Logic is a training and education center on Reynolds Road in Fort Edward, founded by Elizabeth Lajeunesse, who is described on the site as having over 30 years of dog training experience across obedience, agility, search and rescue, behavior and problem solving, and nutrition and health. Her stated specialty is evaluating, rehabilitating and training reactive and aggressive dogs, and the site says her expertise is sought by dog owners, breeders, other trainers, veterinarians, animal rescues, state agencies and people involved in litigation around bite cases. She travels for private clients, speaking engagements and workshops while the center runs behind her; a team of named instructors — a general manager and head instructor, a rally coach and mentor, an assistant instructor and others — teaches the classes.
What they offer
This is the broadest menu in the metro. Puppy University runs in three graded levels, Freshman through Sophomore to a Level 3 certificate that makes the dog an AKC S.T.A.R. graduate. Group classes come in three strands: obedience at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, starting at sit and stay and advancing to off-leash work and complex commands; adventure classes aimed at getting obedience in public, on competition days and out on trails; and certification classes covering Canine Good Citizen, AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy and therapy dog programs. Private training splits into behavior work — rehabilitation, aggression, intensive one-to-one — and performance coaching for people heading into the competition ring. The About page also lists an obedience and certification school, a private consultation program, board and train services, and a professional dog trainer's school.
How they train
Everything is built on what the site calls Elizabeth Lajeunesse's signature Balance Point dog training program, described as a method of communication that translates between humans and canines and is designed to create a well-rounded, thriving canine. The instructor bios lean the same way — one describes dogs as communicating simply, lovingly and honestly, another came to training as a puppy raiser for Guiding Eyes for the Blind and has raised several service candidates.
Practical details
The center has its own building and a published address, 163 Reynolds Road, Fort Edward, which it describes as about 30 minutes from Saratoga Springs and near Lake George; one page of the site refers to the location as South Glens Falls, which is the neighboring community rather than a second site. Registration runs through the site, and the business also takes bookings for educational workshops and guest speaking, consulting for New York State Animal Control Officers and other canine professionals.
