About Doggie Dojo NYC

Doggie Dojo NYC works from 633 Osborn Street in Brownsville and calls itself Brooklyn's force-rare dog training village, home of what it names the Concrete Paw system. It is not open for walk-ins; the dojo comes to the client for pickups and hand-offs.

The idea that organizes everything

The site's central claim is worth quoting: skills are not trained, they are trained somewhere. So the curriculum is arranged by place – Home, Home Street, Routes, Destinations, the Dojo and Transit – and the dog earns a badge for each once the skills are proven there. At Home, described as the one place an owner can actually arrange with crates, gates and rest zones, the skills are settle, crate and den, thresholds and door manners. That structure turns 'my dog is fine indoors and impossible on the sidewalk' from a complaint into a stage in a program.

What you can book, with prices

Everything starts with an intro at $380, one time per dog. From there: Dojo Days from $120, Dojo Overnights from $195 across three tiers, Walk and Train from $100, add-on training during care, group lessons from $90, private lessons from $215 and virtual lessons from $90. Handler coaching is a named service in its own right, on the stated basis that the skills have to live at home.

Credentials and standards

The site states CPDT certification through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers and adherence to the CPDT Code of Ethics and the Humane Hierarchy, plus membership of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and adherence to LIMA – least intrusive, minimally aversive.

The team

Founder and head trainer Martin came through a dog-training apprenticeship at Unleashed by Petco and has trained dogs every day for eight years across every age, breed and temperament. The site tells his origin story honestly – that with his own dog the problem had been him, unclipping the leash before the trust had been built. Christian is listed as a trainer, walker and coach.
