About Double C’s K9

What Double C's K9 offers

Double C's K9 describes itself as providing "personalized, balanced training that builds trust, confidence, and lasting success", covering "basic manners to behavioral challenges". Four delivery formats are published: private lessons, group classes, day training, and a Park Rotation of drop-in classes. Private lessons run either at the facility or in the owner's home.

The facility

The site announces a recent move: "We are so excited to announce that we have moved to our new location in Vernon, NY! All in facility privates and group classes will be there, in home privates and the Park Rotation Drop in classes will continue as normal." The About page places it "off of Route 5 in Vernon, NY – right across from the Black Stallion Restaurant", and describes a spacious indoor training area, a kennel room, a large yard, a walking path in the back field and ample parking, kept at a comfortable temperature year round.

Who runs it

The trainer is Alyssa Jager. She lists herself as an International Association of Canine Professionals Professional Member, an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, a Remote Collar Master Class graduate, and Pet CPR and First Aid Certified. Her published range covers "everything from basic manners to advanced off-leash obedience, as well as trick training, agility and scent work foundations, and behavior modification", and she writes that she adjusts her methods "from enthusiastic working breeds to calm, sensitive companions".

Background as published

She started as a junior handler in agility with a family Labrador, and the business is named for two rescued dogs, Cali and Cora – the two Cs. Through Cora she took up dock diving and returned to agility while advancing in obedience, rally and scent work, first teaching private lessons and later running private and group classes at a training facility, before working for a mentor trainer and then starting her own business. With a third dog, Circa, she competes in French Ring, which she describes as "a demanding sport that emphasizes precision, athleticism, control, and the deep relationship between dog and handler". She writes that she still attends club practices, seminars, workshops and private lessons with her own dogs.
