About Draxen Farms

Herding training in Fort Pierce

Draxen Farms is an all-herding-breed training facility at 1502 Trowbridge Road in Fort Pierce, where Mike Horgan offers herding training and testing for all herding dog breeds. The farm is a 10 acre sheep herding training club, and herding-group breeds from Border Collies and Australian Shepherds to Corgis, German Shepherd Dogs and Rottweilers are welcome. For a dog that herds every other dog at the dog park, the farm aims to bring out that natural instinct and redirect the behavior, and it describes herding as a confidence builder.

Ducks and farm dog work

Runner ducks with A and B courses are set up for AKC and AHBA trial training or just for fun, a way to learn how dogs and handler pressure affect the movement of stock. Draxen Farms also offers practice sessions for the AKC Farm Dog Certification, a program open to all dogs with 12 test items, and has presented a Farm Dog Certification test together with the Florida Working Dog Club.
