About Eagle Fleece Kennels & Training LLC

Who runs it

Eagle Fleece Kennels & Training is in Elcho. Its own footer prints "EAGLE FLEECE LLC – N11418 SUNSET RD – ELCHO, WISCONSIN 54428." The about page is written around one trainer: "Phil has been training dogs for over 30 years. He trained his first Labrador when he was 12 years old to be a faithful hunting companion."

How the site says it started

The about page says "It has been Phil's dream for many years to own a business caring for and training dogs. In 2017, we purchased our home in Elcho, WI, where his dream became reality. With the help of friends and local contractors, we were able to renovate our barn to what is now our boarding and training facility." The same page carries a photo sequence of that renovation and a thank-you list of the local contractors who worked on it.

What you can book

The site sums its offering up in one line: "We provide obedience training for all dogs and retriever training for your hunting companion." The obedience side is published as "OBEDIENCE FOR ALL DOGS … Phil offers custom training, devised specifically to teach your dog common obedience commands," with "E-Collar Conditioning" listed as a training item. The gun-dog side is listed in more detail as "RETRIEVER TRAINING – Upland and waterfowl hunting / Retrieving on land and water / Blind retrieves / Advanced hunting concepts." Boarding is sold as a separate service from training, with its own page.

Method, in the site's words

The about page states the working belief plainly: Phil "loves to hunt with his dogs and understands that hunting/working dogs are designed to enjoy hunting and working for their owners. He strives to understand the personality of each dog he trains to bring out the best in each of them." It adds that he "believes that a well-trained obedient dog will be much happier and be a much better companion whether you are an avid hunter, or your dog is just part of your family."

What to ask

The nav reads "BOARDING & TRAINING," but the site sells boarding and training as two separate services, so ask if you want a stay-and-train program. The prices on the boarding page are boarding prices; ask about training prices. Ask what certification Phil holds.
