About Greenville Humane Society Adoption Center
Greenville Humane Society, at 305 Airport Road in Greenville, runs a Behavior & Enrichment department that works with its shelter dogs and cats and also offers training to the public: group classes, private training sessions and behavior sessions.
Group classes
Group classes cover puppy basics and social learning, basic manners and life skills for teen and adult dogs, and AKC classes. Dogs must be fully vaccinated, including DA2PPV, Bordetella and rabies. Classes start at $150, with online registration.
Private training and behavior help
Private training sessions take place in the client's home, at the shelter or remotely, and begin with a 90-minute consultation ($125) to build an individual plan; ongoing sessions are 60 minutes at $95. For fear, anxiety, hyper-arousal or aggression, a certified dog behavior consultant offers a 90-minute initial consultation ($225) and ongoing 60-minute behavior sessions ($125), in person or remotely. New clients start with a consultation before booking private sessions.
Method
The department describes its training as humane, science-based positive reinforcement, and its classes are led by third-party certified trainers. Class fees also support the shelter's work with the animals in its care.
What to ask
Ask which class fits your dog's age and level, current class dates, and whether a private consultation or a group class is the better first step.
