About Gungho Dog Training
What they offer
Gungho Dog Training is based on Cowboy Lane in Ellensburg and run by owner Cody Axthelm, who started Gungho Dogs in 2018 and is listed on the site as an IACP certified dog trainer. It runs three in-person training programs that mix board and train with day training, and every client starts with a free transformation session to choose the right program; owners farther away can do an online assessment.
Programs
In the day-train program the dog spends six hours once a week with a trainer, and each pickup includes a one-on-one session with homework for the owner. Programs include the business's online obedience courses for puppies and adult dogs, and teach cues such as here, heel, sit, down, kennel, leave it, off, quiet, focus and a release word, along with socialization and the owner's own goals. Puppy owners in Kittitas County with puppies under six months can book a free in-home training session.
How they train
The site says training uses positive reinforcement alongside tools such as treats, a clicker, long lines, place boards and, where appropriate, e-collars or prong collars, with the goal of weaning the dog off all tools by the end.
