About Haus Luc K9, Inc

What they do

Haus Luc K9 is a family-owned kennel in Milford, in southern Caroline County, combining training, boarding, grooming and German Shepherd breeding under one roof. The site is candid that it is small: "Haus Luc K9 is a small kennel located in beautiful Milford, VA just 20 minutes from I-95."

On the training side the description is broad rather than itemized: the business "specializes in dog training for all breeds and all ages", runs several programs and says it has "the flexibility to tailor them to meet you and your dogs needs." Puppy training is named separately. The site points to an alumni page of trained dogs; ask how each program breaks down into weeks, commands and price.

The kennel

This is the part the site describes in detail, and it is the strongest evidence of what you are actually buying. The facility is purpose-built — the family "stepped out in faith and built our beautiful facility" — with climate-controlled commercial indoor/outdoor private dog runs and a private fenced yard for play. A grooming center operates on site with bookable appointments. The site gives drive times of thirty minutes or less from Richmond, Fredericksburg, King George, Bowling Green, Ladysmith and Tappahannock.

Background

The kennel is named after Luc, the family's first German Shepherd, who retired from Schutzhund with a back injury. Justen Haynes came to training through the sport and made the change from a full-time music career; the site credits clubs, lessons, mentors and trials for the transition. His competition standing is current — the site shows him with his dog on stage with Team USA at the 2025 FCI World Championships. The business claims over twenty years of experience and states that its training is "100% guaranteed", a claim worth asking them to define.

What to ask

Ask about prices, program lengths, the training method, tools or corrections, and what a training stay covers day to day. Because the same site also sells puppies and stud services, be explicit on a first call about whether you are asking about training your own dog.
