About High Desert Working Dogs
What they offer
High Desert Working Dogs is a working-dog club in the Huachuca City area whose members train their own dogs in obedience, tracking, protection and search and rescue. The club says it has operated since 2005 under an earlier name and follows the rules of the international organizations that oversee Schutzhund sport. German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois and Dobermans are the dominant breeds, but the club works with a variety of breeds.
Club training
The training page lists weekly club sessions near Whetstone, a five-acre tracking field members can use, a Tuesday practice for search and rescue and obedience by appointment, and Saturday morning training that alternates between protection and obedience or search and rescue. It notes that the club works with a USCA helper.
Good to know
Members train for many reasons, from a reliable companion and protector at home to service, therapy and search and rescue work and competition. Ask about membership and the current calendar before you visit.
