About Home Field Training and Kennels
Bird dog training near Hurley
Home Field Training and Kennels in Hurley is a bird dog training and kennel operation run under the motto "Honoring Instinct, From Field to Finish." Barratt Gorshe is the owner and operator. He spends each season from August through March running dogs on wild birds and is a dedicated NSTRA field trial competitor who championed the very first dog he competed with. Aleece Gorshe, also an owner and trainer, has been part of the kennel since the summer of 2022 and focuses on raising and training puppies.
Approach
Barratt believes every dog deserves an individualized approach, with each dog trained at a pace that builds confidence, develops natural ability and creates a partnership between dog and handler.
Programs and prices
Board and train is $1500 per month, and every board and train customer receives two free training sessions after pickup so dog and handler learn to work as a team. One-on-one training is $150 per session, with access to equipment such as e-collars, bird launchers, birds and check cords; sessions are booked at least one week ahead with a 20% nonrefundable deposit. Puppies start at $2,500 and come with three free private sessions, and started dogs begin at $4,500.
