What they offer

House of Dog Training Center on West Fillmore Street is the class and lesson location of House of Dog Training, which also runs a boarding and behavior center on Sunflower Road. Classes range from basic obedience to fun classes such as Fun-gility, and puppies start in Puppy Kindergarten.

Puppies

Puppy K is for puppies between 8 weeks and 5 months and meets once a week for an hour over 8 weeks. Topics include socialization and proper play, impulse control, loose leash walking, jumping and nipping, handling, resource guarding, crate training and potty training, and the class works toward the AKC Star Puppy certification. Puppy K2 continues for puppies between 6 months and 1 year.

Behavior help

For reactive dogs the center runs Growl Class, a weekly drop-in class for dogs that play well with other dogs but react on leash, and a Reactive Dog Package for dogs that are fearful of, or overly excited by, strangers or other dogs; both start with an assessment. Its separation anxiety program uses gradual desensitization and conditioning for dogs that panic when left alone. Private lessons run 30 or 60 minutes at the facility, and in-home lessons are available for problems specific to the house.
