J. Wells Kennels LLC is a training, boarding and daycare kennel at 1438 Route 171 in Woodstock Valley, owned by Jordan and Jamie. Jordan and his team offer obedience training and training for upland bird hunting, along with lessons and seminars, and his strength is described as teaching both dogs and their owners. The kennel was featured in the Summer 2024 Gun Dog Magazine.

The Method

J. Wells Kennels is the home of The Method Dog Training, built on communication and understanding between dogs and people. Trainers act as translators, reading body language so owners understand what their dog is telling them and can put the dog in a problem-solving mindset. Central ideas are attention to detail, communication through touch, and "confidence through accomplishment." Jordan credits mentors Rick Smith of the Huntsmith Method and Sonny Piekarz of Hay Creek Kennel.

Facility

The kennel sits on a 50 acre property with indoor kennels for overnight stays, separate areas for training and socialization, and daily cleaning. Daycare includes playtime, socialization, training and rest, and a shuttle called The Waggin Wagon is available. Hours are Monday to Friday, with visits by appointment.
