Training on a 40-acre farm

Morning Star Farm Pet Resort, LLC is a state licensed and inspected pet resort on a private, wooded 40 acres at 317 County Home Road in Thompson, where the owner lives on the property. Alongside boarding, a cattery, daycare, grooming and pet sitting, it offers training from puppy kindergarten through behavior counseling.

Method

Morning Star takes a positive, consistent approach to training and behavior modification, encourages clicker or marker training, and rewards good behavior with treats, praise and toys while setting consistent boundaries. The trainers say they don't shy away from hard cases.

Programs

– Private lessons at the farm or within a 15 mile radius, starting with a 30 minute consultation; suited to fearful, reactive, anxious or aggressive dogs

– Residential board and train for adult dogs, 2 or 4 weeks, ending with an owner lesson

– Day board with an hour of training during the day

– Group classes: Super Pup (6 weeks, under 10 months, with AKC STAR Puppy testing), Companion Obedience I and II, Canine Good Citizen, Cooperative Care, Trick Dog, Rally Obedience 1 and 2, and Agility
