About Jane Trains

What they offer

Jane Trains is a dog training service serving Taos County from El Prado. Work starts with an initial consultation in which trainer Jane Gerard assesses the dog and its environment, explains which outcomes are realistic and picks a training track, followed by individual training sessions. The site also lists daycare and board and train, and a training method for professionals, shelters and rescues that work with dogs in containment. Online training is listed as coming soon.

About the trainer

The site says Jane has more than 40 years of experience as a professional animal trainer and lists the CPDT-KA, KPA-CTP and IAABC-ADT certifications. It also describes her work training dolphins, horses and birds.

How they train

The approach is humane and science-based: it reinforces the behavior the owner wants rather than correcting mistakes, and the site says it does not use shock or choke collars.
