About K9 Hideaway
Who they are
K9 Hideaway is a facility on W Farm Rd 182 on the south side of Springfield that puts training, boarding, daycare and grooming under one roof. The trainer the site is built around is James Craigmyle, described as a certified international K9 trainer based in Springfield with over a decade of experience in professional dog training. The site says he served as a dual-purpose K9 handler, internationally certified in narcotics and patrol, for the largest Sheriff's Office in Missouri, and later as a SWAT K9 handler working with federal, state and local agencies, and that he has trained thousands of dogs from family pets to advanced law enforcement canines.
The training side
The training pages describe work in dog psychology, obedience, scent work, personal protection and behavioral conditioning. The programs named for pet owners run from basic obedience and puppy training up to what the site calls advanced K9 programs, with each session described as tailored to the dog's needs and goals, and the stated approach is proven techniques and positive reinforcement. Skills listed for the puppy and obedience side are the familiar ones – sit, stay, recall, leash manners and socialization – alongside work on unwanted behavior.
The rest of the facility
Boarding is sold as luxury suites with indoor and outdoor play areas, and the site lists live video cameras, a mobile app, UV air treatment and bacterial testing among its features. Grooming runs on site. The feature the business makes most of is a dog swimming pool, which it describes as Springfield's only one and presents as low-impact exercise for joint health and muscle tone as well as enrichment for high-energy dogs.
Recognition
The site says it has been recognized as Springfield's best pet boarding service for 2024, 2025 and 2026 by Business Rate, on the basis of Google and BBB reviews. That is a boarding award rather than a training one, and it is the business's own claim.
Worth knowing
Because boarding and daycare are the larger part of the operation, an owner coming for training should be explicit about which program they want; the training pages sit behind their own menu items rather than on the front of the site.
Who it’s best for
Best for owners who want training and boarding from the same team, and for anyone specifically after protection or scent work from a handler with a law-enforcement background.
