About Key City Kennel Club
AKC club training center in Mankato
Key City Kennel Club is a non-profit organization and describes itself as the only American Kennel Club member club in Southern Minnesota. From its Mankato training center it teaches people with dogs of all breeds, mixes, sizes and ages to train good companions. Its instructors have trained and shown their own dogs in AKC breed, obedience, rally and agility competition and attend continuing education.

The program covers practical life skills, basic and advanced obedience, rally, agility from foundations to advanced and master levels, therapy dog, scent work, tricks and brain games, and conformation. A four-week Sampler Class for $40 rotates through scent work, agility, obedience and rally, and Rescue Dogs 101 is a four-week, $40 class of up to four students for recently adopted dogs.
Drop-in classes and trials
Drop-in conformation, rally run-thrus and scent work cost $15 per dog, or $75 for 5 and $150 for 10 on a punch card; scent work sometimes meets at parks and stores. The club hosts AKC scent work and rally trials.
