About Lawdog K9

Lawdog K9 is a working-dog operation in Lawrenceburg – the contact page gives only the business name, "Lawrenceburg, TN 38464" and two phone numbers – and it is a breeder as well as a trainer. The business describes its own origin: the owner "decided to put this knowledge and experience to work and my wife Jessica and I opened Lawdog Malinois in 2018", with a German Shorthaired Pointer line added in 2020 and both brought under "Lawdog K9, LLC." in 2021.

How the training is structured

The training page is unusually direct about what it believes: "Dog training is as much about training the handler as it is about training the canine. My preferred method of training is one-on-one private lessons with the canine and the handler." Those lessons run weekly at "from 60-90 minutes", dropping to twice-monthly maintenance once, in the site's words, "the team" is competent. Board and train is offered as the alternative for owners without that time – the dog lives at the facility, training happens daily, and the owner is sent pictures and videos of progress.

What is actually taught

The list is published in one line and it is a working-dog list rather than a pet-manners one: "Types of training offered: obedience, agility, tracking, scent work, sport and grip work, hunt training and overall socialization." For prices, the page directs you to the contact form.

Who is behind it

The owner publishes his background himself: a former police K9 officer whose stated highlight was "placing 17th Overall in the country at the USPCA Nationals" with his canine partner, who says that "For the past 15 years, I have trained canines and their handlers in the aforementioned disciplines in the private sector as well as government agencies around the country", and who states he holds regional certification to judge narcotics and Police Dog 1 trials through the USPCA. A second trainer joined recently with a similar law-enforcement and competition background. Note for pet owners: this is a sport, hunting and working-dog practice, so ask first if your family dog has a behavior problem.
