About Leader of the Pack Dog Training, LLC

Behavior-focused training in Portland

Leader of the Pack Dog Training is a Portland dog training and behavior modification business serving Portland, Beaverton, Hillsboro and nearby communities. It cites over 25 years of experience and professional membership in the IACP, and its training crew includes Mark Dunlap and Virginia Dunlap.

Approach

The emphasis is on teaching owners to communicate clearly and lead effectively, in real-world settings such as neighborhood walks and public places. Training follows the LOTP Hierarchy of Dog Needs: first the basic needs of the animal, then exercise, work and play for the canine, then leadership, discipline and affection for the pack member, and finally a working partner that responds to verbal and non-verbal cues. The team says every dog can be trained.

Programs

Options include structured behavior modification for reactivity, anxiety and aggression, private training, group obedience classes and Live-In Training, an immersive board and train. Puppies learning the basics are welcome too, consultations are free, and a discount membership is available.
