About Lessons That Last Dog Training LLC
Lessons That Last Dog Training LLC is a Fox Valley, Wisconsin training business whose home page sets out the premise it works from: "Helping owners and dogs with the three things all dogs need in order to learn: TIMING – CONSISTENCY – MOTIVATION". The goals it names are broad – "Whether it's good manners, obedience, clicker tricks, socialization, or confidence building, we'll set up a training plan to help meet your specific training goals."
Puppy work
Puppy training is the front of the offer. Puppy Preschool is "designed specifically for puppies 8-16 weeks old", and the page argues for starting immediately: "You can actually start training your puppy the day you bring it home. Eight weeks is NOT too young!" Early socialization is given its own section, which says "The primary window for early socialization is between the ages of 6-16 weeks" and that experiences in that period "will determine how they view the world for the rest of their life". Puppy Pre-K follows for puppies 3-6 months, aimed at jumping up, not coming when called and pulling on the walk, and a further socialization offering covers puppies from 4 months to 1 year. The site also offers help choosing a dog in the first place – picking a breed to fit a lifestyle, breeder versus rescue, selecting from a litter and puppy-proofing a home.
Formats
The training page lists four formats. Private lessons are "one-on-one training sessions designed specifically for you and your dog"; semi-private lessons take "small groups of 2-3 owner/dog teams"; group lessons run "Groups of up to 8 owner/dog teams that meet weekly for 4-6 sessions", covering "obedience, manners, puppy socialization, clicker tricks, etc." The fourth is labeled "Day Training – BOOT CAMP", and the description makes clear what that means here – "Giving your pet one-on-one multiple training sessions throughout the day", filled with "mental stimulation, physical exercise, and practical lessons". It is day training with the dog worked in sessions, not a residential board-and-train, and the site describes no overnight stay. A Foundation Program covering manners and obedience is offered for dogs 7 months and older.
The trainer
The about page introduces the trainer directly: "My name is Lori Kohls. I LOVE DOGS and I've been training them for nearly 40 years." It says she will "work with any age, any size, and any breed", and that she offers "day training, private, semi-private, and group lessons, as well as confidence classes and early socialization for puppies from 6-16 weeks of age". The training page describes her as "the finest certified Dog Trainer" without naming the certifying body, and the site publishes no prices beyond saying it provides "a quality education at a competitive rate".
