About Mr. Dog Training
What they offer
Mr. Dog Training is run by Sara Sokol, who started the business in Maine in 2012 after years of shelter behavior work and teaching classes from puppy kindergarten to advanced obedience. She teaches skills and enrichment classes in person at her facility in Brunswick or at a second location in West Gardiner, and some classes run live over Zoom, with each session recorded and emailed to students.
Programs
Private training is available in person at either facility or virtually. The site also offers a reactive dog course, recorded video courses and play sessions at the canine enrichment center in West Gardiner. Classes fill quickly and registration with payment holds a place.
Approach
The focus is on the relationship and communication between dog and owner rather than simply teaching skills. The site says it does not use correction or punishment, and that the goal is to understand how dogs learn and communicate, build trust and confidence, and support the dog's emotional wellbeing.
