About My Dog Listens LLC

My Dog Listens LLC sells residential training out of northern Virginia, and the detail that separates it from most board-and-trains is the ratio: the site states "Only 2 – 3 dogs per trainer at a time" and that "Dogs stay in our home as part of our family".

The programs

Three tracks are published. Board and train runs a "Puppy Board & Train 2 Week Program" and an "Adult Dog Board & Train" in one, two and three week lengths. Day training offers an "Adult Dog Day Training 2 Week Program". Private lessons run as a "Puppy Consultation 1 Private Lesson", "Basic Obedience 4 Private Lessons" and "Behavioral Modification 4 Private Lessons". Boarding without training is also offered.

What they take on

The site says it works with "All breeds, sizes & ages" and "All issues including aggression, reactivity & anxiety".

The guarantee

Stated as a lifetime commitment: "We are truly a 100% satisfaction guaranteed business. After completing one of our Adult Dog Board & Train programs, we offer free refresher training sessions for the life of your dog."

The philosophy, and what it leaves open

The stated approach is deliberately non-doctrinal: "We employ a variety of training tools and methods. Contact us and we will design the perfect program for you and your pup." Ask at the free consultation who will train your dog, whether they hold a certification, and what the programs cost. Reviews on the site describe e-collars being sent home with trained dogs, so ask about tools directly if that matters to you.
