About Northern Pines Canines

Working dogs and custom training

Northern Pines Canines (NPK9) is a working dog breeder and training business in Fremont, founded by Ken and Carolyn. It raises Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherds and German Shepherds from puppies to fully trained working dogs, and builds custom one-on-one training plans for family pets and personal working dogs. It says it has trained canines to work alongside elite special forces and applies the same principles to family dogs.

Method

NPK9 describes its training as food based, built on clear expectations, and progresses to proofing with environmental distractions so results hold in real life. Owners complete an intake form, the dog is trained, and the team then shifts to coaching the owner.
