About Onyx Canine Kennels, LLC.

About

Onyx Canine Kennels is an all-breed training business run by Dean and Becky. Dean "is a Bloomfield,

Kentucky native, growing up a few miles from our location." He enlisted in the Kentucky National Guard

out of school, served his full commitment with the Army before transferring to the Air Force, and

worked with canines in his civilian career, moving "through a training company from kennel tech, to a

trainer, to a Head Trainer at a stand alone location." He is now head trainer and co-owner. Becky

enlisted in the Kentucky Air National Guard in 2016 after attending the University of Kentucky, and

handles the back-end operations alongside part ownership.

The stated mission: "To empower dog owners to create their dream relationship with their canine

companion … helping you become an exemplary team regardless of environment or circumstance by

explaining the concepts necessary in such a way, you as the handler have confidence in yourself and

your canines performance."

Three core values are published — Integrity ("If we wouldn't do it in front of you we won't do it at

all"), Loyalty and Contribution.

Basic obedience programs

Every basic program delivers the same behavior set: wait at threshold, sit-stay, down-stay, place,

loose leash walk and dropped leash recall.

– **Private Instruction** — six one-to-one lessons a week apart, requiring consistent daily work at

home. From $750.

– **Board and Train** — a fourteen-day immersive program "designed to have the heavy lifting done

and ready for regular maintenance training," for owners who can't do weekend homework. Lessons come

at the end: a send-home lesson, a clean-up lesson, and a third "proof where we meet out and about

for real world proof of training." From $1,750. Dogs can be shipped in.

– **Hands Off Basics** — a five-day add-on to any basic program conditioning the electronic training

collar for off-leash reliability, with the same three-lesson structure. From $750.

Onyx programs

These include all the basic obedience behaviors and are "built and customized for canines intended to

perform a task, that task can be an elite house pet, therapy dog, service dog a working canine."

– **Raise and Train** — a puppy program covering basic obedience, house-training schedule and

socialization, with four lessons "walking you through the pillars of puppy development." From

$2,500.

– **Onyx Program** — the specialized tier for service work, working canines or scent work, built as a

custom plan after assessment. From $3,500.

All programs are subject to Kentucky's 6% sales tax.
