About Oshkosh Kennel Club

The Oshkosh Kennel Club Inc. is a member club rather than a commercial training business, and its own about page describes "a group of dog lovers who have joined together to train and show our beloved dogs in a wide variety of events and venues". Its classes, though, are not members-only: "The Club conducts training classes in many events including Obedience, Rally, Nose Work and Agility. These classes are open to the public as well as to our members. All dogs are welcome: mixed breeds, which the American Kennel Club designates as 'All-Americans' as well as purebreds."

Classes

The classes page says the club "offers 4 Sessions of classes a year", with enrollment handled online through the class listing. Orientation "is required for most classes", and the page asks anyone who cannot attend to contact the Head Trainer. The club's class rules are published alongside: standard vaccinations are required before admission with Bordetella recommended, in-season females are not allowed except in conformation or online classes, and "Aggressive dogs will be excused from classes if the problems cannot be corrected" – so this is not the place for a dog with a bite history.

Events and background

Beyond classes, the club "sponsors events such as All-Breed Shows, Obedience, Rally, Agility and Fast Cat Trials, CGC Tests and a Spring B-OB Match", and the home page lists obedience and agility mat times, run-thrus and a fall calendar of trials. The about page says the club "was established in July of 1963" and "was recognized as a Club of Record by the American Kennel Club on May 16, 1970", and that it is run by elected officers and a board. Membership is separate from classes; the club publishes membership dues of $40.00 for a regular or associate membership, and meets at its building on West Packer Avenue on the second Wednesday of each month.
