About Pawlished Dog Training, LLC.

Who they are

"Pawlished Dog Training LLC was founded in January of 2015. We moved from Norwood, OH to Mentor, KY in March of 2020." The address published is 11617 Mary Ingles Highway, Mentor, KY 41007, with hours of "10:00 AM – 5:00 PM Tuesday – Friday" and "8:00 AM – 2:00 PM Saturday."

The site also flags an active adjustment to the schedule: "Program and availability adjustments are continuing to be made as Tori adapts programs to life with two kids!"

Recognition

"Pawlished is honored to have been voted by the community 'Best of Cincinnati' 2025 and 'Best of Kentucky' 2026!"

The trainer

Tori is named as "Owner and Head Trainer." The site states she "graduated from the University of Cincinnati with degrees in Marketing and Entrepreneurship as well as a certificate in Deaf Studies," and "graduated from National K-9 Learning Center's Master Course as a Certified Professional Trainer (CPT) with endorsements for: Basic Obedience, Advanced Obedience, Behavior Modification, Utility, Breed Identification, Puppy Development, Tracking, Scent Detection, Personal Protection, Police K-9, Retrieval, and Assistance Dog Training."

It adds that she "has been certified through the American Red Cross multiple times for Dog and Cat First Aid and CPR and is an Ambassador of and Professional member of the International Association for Canine Professionals (IAC P)," served on that body's Legislative Committee and Board of Directors, and that "In 2022, Tori received the IACP President's Award for her outstanding service to the organization."

She also "co-founded the 501(c)3 non-profit, Caped Canines Assistance Academy, Inc. in December of 2021" with colleague Justine Oakwood, whose "mission is to provide foundation work and task training support of service dogs to individuals who need support self-training at low costs," and "currently serves as the Executive Director of Caped Canines."

Method

The site describes the approach as balanced and says so in those words: "Pawlished believes in training every dog in front of them at the pace and with the tools they require to succeed. Because of this, Pawlished is considered 'Balanced Training', meaning we use all 4 learning quadrants."

On rewards: "When your dog does a desired behavior, we will reward it with physical and verbal praise. That's not to say that we won't use treats during training, but we don't want to create dogs who are dependent on treats to preform tasks." On corrections: "We prefer spray bottles, shaker cans, and leash corrections," with the caveat that "You can't successfully correct a dog without telling them why it happened and what a better option would be!"

On equipment the site is unusually explicit: "We are open to using buckle collars, martingale collars, slip chain collars, prong collars, e-collars, harnesses, standard leashes, extended leashes, food, place mats, crates, muzzles, toys, clickers, etc."

A named influence is credited too: "an integral part of our training philosophy stems from 'Training Between the Ears' (TBTE)… TBTE uses primarily reward and relaxation strategies to change the emotional state of dogs and help them moderate their own emotions."

What the training is for

"What do we do at Pawlished? Train using a common sense approach. Correct and address behavioral issues. Reward and encourage good decisions. Change the relationship between owners and dogs."

How training starts

The published process is: "Complete our evaluation request form," "Submit payment," "Complete your evaluation," then "E-mail Tori at pawlisheddogtraining@gmail.com to book training after evaluation," then train. Afterwards the site describes continuing access to "Group Distraction Classes, Pawlished Community Events, Pawlished Pack Members Group, Continued Education Workshops."
