Training at a Jackrabbit Road resort

PAWS on Jackrabbit is a spa and pet resort on Jackrabbit Rd in Houston that runs a full training program alongside boarding, daycare and grooming. Training Director Dave Clendenon is credited with more than 40 years of experience, hundreds of dogs trained and tens of thousands of owners guided through classes and private lessons.

Classes and lessons

Six-week, 45-minute group classes are $180 each: Puppy Preschool for 3 to 5 months (sit, stay, come and leash walking, help with biting, jumping and house training, and supervised socialization), Beginning for 6 months and older, and Intermediate/Advanced for dogs ready for distance work, longer stays and distractions. A four-hour Saturday Quick Class covers the Beginning outline for $180. Private lessons are $95 at the resort or $150 at your home within a 10-mile radius, with buy three get one free.

Kennel programs

In Kennel Training is a four-week stay with daily positive-method sessions and a 45-minute lesson at pickup for $2,900. Conformation In Kennel Training prepares show dogs to stack and gait over five weekdays for $725. All classes use positive methods, and current Bordetella, DHPP and rabies records are required.
