About Pawsitive Canine Academy
What they offer
Pawsitive Canine Academy trains from a 10-acre facility in Colbert, about 15 minutes north of Spokane, with a kennel and training room, a full agility course, a tracking field and an obstacle course on a working vineyard. Its services include board and train behavior modification, one-on-one training, obedience classes, puppy training programs, Doggie Day School (a training-focused day program with pickup by the academy's bus) and boarding, plus drop-in specialty and fun classes such as agility, nosework and tracking.
Behavior work
The site says the academy will train any dog regardless of breed, size or history, and lists the problems it takes on: excessive barking, nipping, dog-to-dog and human aggression, leash pulling and leash reactivity, resource guarding, jumping, fear, anxiety and separation anxiety, door bolting and chasing game. Obedience work covers heeling and loose-leash walking, sit and down stays, place, recall and crate training, and the site describes its methods as no-nonsense, real-world training.
About the trainers
Owner and head trainer Monique Smith studied animal sciences and canine behavioral science, according to the site, and also works as a certified explosives and narcotics detection handler; a separate head trainer runs the board and train and working-dog programs.
