About Pet Caddy
Ranch-style boarding and training in Spicewood
Pet Caddy is a dog boarding, daycare and board and train ranch at 620 Gregg Drive in Spicewood, set on five acres near Austin. It serves Austin, Lakeway, Horseshoe Bay, Marble Falls, Barton Creek Lakeside and Steiner Ranch, and calls itself a doggy dude ranch rather than an average kennel.
Training
The board and train program is four weeks of structured training covering basics, impulse control, leash manners, recall and calm routines, with a take-home plan for owners. Dog training also includes puppy training and basic and advanced obedience. Pet Caddy describes reward-based, positive reinforcement training for real life, with sessions led by founder James Turner on the open-air ranch.
The founder
James Turner says his work with dogs began at age 13 training his first dog, a German Wirehaired Pointer, as a bird dog, and that his current dogs, a Belgian Malinois named Kahn and a dog named Penny, are trained service animals. Kahn helps new guests settle in.
Care services
Boarding offers supervised ranch time, structured play and climate-controlled rest, and daycare keeps groups small and energy-matched. A Pup Shuttle handles pick-up and drop-off, and the ranch also cares for cats and other small pets. Call (972) 430-4529.
