Petco Dog Training in Oakland Park operates out of store 1780 at 1009 E Commercial Blvd. Trainers are available from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM Monday through Saturday, closing an hour earlier on Sunday. The training line is (954) 351-4244.
Group and private options
In-store group classes run six weeks of hour-long sessions with up to four other dogs. The menu has four levels: Puppy for 8 to 16 weeks old, covering potty training, socialization and foundational cues; Beginner for 16 weeks to 6 months, with loose-leash walking and "leave it"; Fundamentals for dogs 6 months and up, which also curbs jumping and barking; and Advanced, adding heel and recall with distractions. Private 45-minute sessions give one-on-one attention, scheduled around the owner and built on a plan for that dog.
Before class
Owners bring a leash, collar or harness, proof of vaccinations, treats and poop bags.
