About Play & Stay Pet Retreat, Mercer, ME

What they offer

Play & Stay Pet Retreat in Mercer combines dog daycare, dog and cat boarding and grooming with a balanced dog training program run by two trainers. Training focuses on calmer walks, better manners, confidence and clearer communication, and owners learn alongside their dogs.

Training options

Private training gives one-on-one help with the dog's specific goals and challenges. Group classes build skills, confidence and neutrality around real-life distractions. Day School adds focused training during daycare on obedience, leash manners, neutrality, confidence and impulse control. AKC programs include a six-week S.T.A.R. Puppy course and a four-week Canine Good Citizen course with evaluation, and board and train runs for two or four weeks.

Approach

The balanced approach picks tools and techniques for the individual dog, from food, leashes and long lines to prong collars and e-collars, and the trainers will explain what they use and why.
