R+ Dog is a positive reinforcement dog training business at 585 Central Ave in Jefferson, serving New Orleans, Jefferson Parish, Metairie and nearby areas. It uses science-based R+ methods, trains without fear, pain or intimidation, and some classes run in partnership with NOLA Bark Market.

The owner

Owner Janette Marie Rael, CTC, studied at the San Francisco SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers in 2009 and founded R+ Dog Training that year. She specializes in dog-dog social skills, leash reactivity and aggression, managed the Metrodog boarding and training center in Richmond, California for over six years, and fosters for Louisiana SPCA and Take Paws Rescue.

Programs and prices

Private in-home training is $130 for 45 to 60 minutes. Board & Train runs $750 for a 6-night week or $1,500 for 13 nights, with daily exercise, training and field trips. The Day Training School package is $600 (eight $60 sessions plus a follow-up), with a $75 trial day. Group classes include Puppy and Dog Basic Skills (3 classes, $150), Reactive Rehab (5 classes, $250) and Nose Work (5 classes, $175).
