About The Dog School Of New Orleans
Led by a former police K9 handler
The Dog School of New Orleans trains dogs from its base at 856 Hickory Avenue in Harahan and serves New Orleans and the surrounding areas. Owner and head trainer Brooke Defore is a prior military police officer and was a police K9 handler for many years, and the school credits her with working with hundreds of dogs. The school was featured on Fox 8's morning news show.
Behavior modification and problem solving
The school describes itself as a canine obedience company specializing in behavior modification and problem solving, offering behavior consultations, private lessons and coaching that teaches owners why dogs do what they do. It takes excited puppies, anxious rescues, aggressive dogs and dogs that just need fine-tuning, with unique training plans for each dog and a goal of reliable behavior around distractions, even off leash. Packages cover puppies, basic obedience and advanced obedience with behavior modification, alongside boarding and detection dog work. AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluations cost $50 each.
