About Regional K-9

Regional K-9 opened in 2018 under Pat Curran, and the shape of the business is unusual: all training runs out of his residence and he takes a maximum of three dogs at a time. The stated specialties are obedience training and behavior counseling, and the published philosophy is a balanced scale approach meant to establish direction, focus and control in a dog's daily life.

Four residency programs, priced

The programs are published as a ladder with prices and contents. 5-2 On Leash is five days in residence with two private lessons at $1,525, covering mild behavior modification, on-leash control, an introduction to leadership exercises and impulse control, and heel, down and stay; the site calls it perfect for vacationers. 10-4 is ten days with four private lessons at $2,650, adding an off-leash introduction, urban agility, hiking, urban walks, store visits, recall and the place command; it is marked most popular. 15-6 is fifteen days with six lessons at $3,975 and moves to off-leash reliability. 20-8 Rehab is twenty days with eight lessons for severe behavior modification. Every program includes an e-collar and a fitted training collar with a standard leash.

Private lessons

Private lessons are $150 per session. The site describes them as teaching the owner how to train the dog for obedience commands and how to handle unwanted behaviors, and it is candid that they work best for owners with the time and patience to practice at home between sessions.

Credentials

Pat Curran is published as a Certified Professional Dog Trainer from National K-9 in Columbus, Ohio, and as a member of the International Association of Canine Professionals. The site offers a free training evaluation as the first step.

Who it’s best for

Best for an owner who wants an intensive residential program with a very small dog count, published prices, and off-leash work as the goal.
