About Rettungs-Haus Shepherds, Inc

Obedience classes from a Kenosha rescue

Rettungs-Haus Shepherds is a German Shepherd rescue in Kenosha that rescues, rehabilitates and places shepherds. Alongside the rescue, it runs training classes with the stated aim of reducing shelter surrenders through education, training and behavior work. Owners thinking about giving up a dog are urged to try rehabilitation through training first.

Class levels

All classes run as six-week sessions. Every new client starts with Level 1, which lays a foundation and lets the trainers assess the dog's behavior and obedience. Level 2 moves to flat collars and works toward the Canine Good Citizen test. Level 3 is the intermediate class and introduces off-leash work with some agility, and Level 4 is the advanced off-leash class.

The site lists required vaccinations for dogs four months and older and offers a 20% discount for first responders, military and veterans, teachers and students, seniors 70 and up, and rescues.

What to ask
