About River’s Edge Canine, LLC

River's Edge Canine is a training and boarding property on Braley Road in Youngstown, in the far northwest corner of Niagara County. It was founded in 2018 by Alexandra Whitford and expanded two years ago when co-owner Andrew left an electrician's trade to work the kennel full time.

Services

The business publishes five services and keeps them distinct: private lessons, board and train, day training, group classes, and overnight boarding. Training and boarding have separate submission forms, so the two sides of the property are booked separately rather than bundled.

Background

Alex started with dogs at sixteen as a daycare attendant, working up to district manager, and came to training through her own rescue, a fearful and reactive Catahoula leopard dog named Lila. She trained with a local facility, then joined it professionally, running private lessons, group classes and board-and-train dogs there before founding River's Edge Canine. Andrew has trained and competed in Schutzhund since 2015 and owns two German Shepherds, one a young competition prospect and one retired from a level-three Schutzhund career; the business credits his reading of canine emotion and drive as part of what the team offers. An assistant trainer is an active member of a working dog club with her Doberman and describes blending companion obedience with the structure that working dogs need.
