About Robin’s Nest Dog Training
Robin's Nest K9 is a one-trainer practice with a published street address on NY-32 in Central Valley, inside the Town of Woodbury, and the site is written for a specific reader: "pet owners who love their dogs deeply but are struggling – frustrated by behaviors that make daily life stressful and limit what you can do together." The tagline is "Training That Actually Sticks. In the real world, where it matters."
What is on offer
Three programs are published, and every client starts with an evaluation that decides which one applies. Board & Train is described as immersive work for behavior modification, obedience and puppy training in which "Robin lives, works, and trains with your dog", followed by a handover so the owner can take over a dog that is already trained. Private Lessons are one-to-one in the client's own home with the owner hands-on throughout. Group Classes are a structured environment for practicing focus and obedience "around the distractions of everyday life".
What they work on
The problem list is published in the business's own words: reactivity, leash pulling, dog-on-dog aggression, human aggression, resource guarding, separation anxiety, selective listening, fearfulness, lack of confidence, excessive barking, fence fighting, running away, jumping on people, potty training, crate training, house manners, and puppy nipping and biting. Recall is treated as an outcome rather than a trick – the site frames the goal as "reliable off-leash recall – freedom and adventure together".
How the training is framed
The method is stated openly as balanced: rewards for the right behavior, and correction only after the dog has been taught what is being asked. Teaching runs in stages, "always setting the dog up for success first, then proving the training out in the real world." The human half is treated as part of the job: "Robin evaluates not just the dog's behavior, but how the owner is living with and communicating with the dog." Support between sessions is offered by phone and video.
Background
The About page is specific about where the practice came from. After more than twenty years in corporate work, Robin started a dog walking and pet sitting business in 2005 and spent eleven years handling other people's dogs. In 2016 she adopted Gracie, a pit bull with human aggression who was, in her own words, "out of her league"; the dog went on to become her demo dog, earned a CD in competitive obedience and competed in dock diving. She has been training professionally since 2018.
Service area
The site publishes a 30-mile in-person radius centered on Woodbury, covering Orange and Rockland counties and parts of Westchester, Putnam, Ulster, Sullivan and northern Bergen County in New Jersey. Board and train clients are said to travel from further afield. The way in is a free consultation on (845) 923-0595 or by email.
