About Rochester NY Dogs

Rochester NY Dogs runs a board and train program out of Rochester and Pittsford, and the distinguishing claim on its own site is that the dog boards in the trainer's home rather than in what it calls a random boarding facility. The program is described as intensive, several weeks long, and covering everything from puppy basics to behavioral rehabilitation.

Service dogs and assistance work

A large part of the published menu is task-trained assistance work. The site lists service dog training for autistic and neurodivergent handlers, PTSD service dogs, assistance for deaf and hard of hearing handlers, and medical alerts, and it keeps a separate page explaining the difference between service dogs, emotional support animals and therapy dogs. Individual training records are published for client dogs, including start and end dates and rabies validity, with a note that supporting documentation can be provided on request and that HIPAA limits what is shown.

Private and group work

Private one-on-one sessions are offered in the client's home, in parks, in stores and at the trainer's facility, and the site says they are highly intensive and shaped around the specific dog. There is an AKC Canine Good Citizen certification class described as a group course designed for the Canine Good Citizen exam, with certification by the AKC on a pass. Online streaming training is sold for owners anywhere, covering leash pulling, barking, anxiety and aggression, therapy and service work, and puppy basics.

Where the work is shown

The site publishes video and location write-ups rather than only testimonials: off-leash practice at Conesus Lake, public-access training filmed at the Rochester Public Market on Union Street North, and a gathering at Letchworth State Park. Pet sitting is also offered, with the pitch that a professional dog trainer is the one caring for the dog.
