About Sentry Canine Protection Services
Protection training in Vero Beach
Sentry Canine Protection Services is a Vero Beach protection dog program that trains dogs to defend with discipline and handlers to lead with confidence. It works with families, solo handlers and professionals, and describes protection as discernment, obedience and trust rather than aggression. Its approach is balanced, using praise, structure and corrections together.
The trainers
Tyler Neal, founder of Legacy K9 Services in Sebastian, began his canine career in 2018 and trained under a mentor with military and police K9 experience, adding bite work, scent detection, tracking and advanced obedience. Tara Wekstein is owner and master trainer of Elite Florida Canine College in Vero Beach and specializes in obedience for high-energy working breeds such as German Shepherds, Dutch Shepherds, Malinois, Dobermans and Rottweilers.
Programs
The Basic + Advanced Program is an intense four-month course meeting once a week, covering handler protection, carjacking, defense and ambush scenarios, with training in controlled aggression, environmental stability and decision making. Every dog first completes at least two evaluations, open to dogs 6 months or older, at $40 each. A monthly protection maintenance program offers four scenario-based sessions a month for dogs already trained.
What to ask
Ask the price of the four-month program, where sessions meet, and what the maintenance program costs.
