About Special K9 Dog Training & Country Resort

What they offer

Special K9 Dog Training & Country Resort is a training and boarding facility at 6019 South Victory Road in Burrton, west of Hutchinson. Its family training page lists on-leash and off-leash obedience and proper manners, private lesson programs, and specialized courses in therapy dog training, service dog training, aggression rehabilitation and separation anxiety rehabilitation. The aggression and separation anxiety courses run as three-week on-leash or six-week off-leash programs.

How they train

The home page says: "We train for the reality of the pet owners by not relying on treats to get them to respond." The off-leash and rehabilitation programs list a gentle remote collar, and the page notes that the off-leash aggression course requires a home protocol agreement and muzzle conditioning before it starts.

Private lessons

Private lessons are one-on-one 50-minute sessions once a week for three to eight weeks at the facility, with daily homework. The page says progress depends on the owner doing the homework.

Also on site

The resort also offers daycare and boarding, and it accepts dogs for boarding or training from 12 weeks of age once its vaccination requirements are met. Ask which program fits your dog when you call.
