About Special Paws
What they offer
Special Paws offers humane, dog-friendly training through positive reinforcement, with lessons at clients' homes mainly in the Rockville, Kensington, Bethesda, Gaithersburg, Germantown and Frederick areas; other areas are available on request. It works with all kinds of dogs, purebred or mixed, young or old.
Approach
The site explains positive reinforcement as adding something the dog values to make a wanted behavior more frequent, and points owners to the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior's guidance on choosing a trainer.
