The Canine Intention
Overview
About The Canine Intention
The Canine Intention is Eliza Collins' training practice in Boones Mill, serving what the site calls "SW Virginia & Beyond". The site says "Eliza has been professionally training dogs since 2014, with experience ranging from everyday obedience to complex behavior cases and high level dog sport."
Board and train
The main program is an immersive board and train of three to eight weeks, and the dog stays in the trainer's home rather than a kennel: "Your dog lives and trains in our home while receiving personalized attention throughout their stay." Three go-home lessons and lifetime support are included.
Other ways to train
Private lessons run weekly for five to ten consecutive weeks, in the client's home or at an offsite location, with homework set each week. A Day Train option has the dog dropped off twice a week for six weeks with weekly video instruction and two go-home lessons afterwards. Limited boarding and refresher training are offered to existing clients only.
Credentials and sport background
The site lists her as an "AKC CGC & Puppy Star Program Evaluator", an "International Association of Canine Professionals Member" and a "National level IGP competitor". It explains the sport background in training terms: "Her background in dog sports has given her extensive experience when it comes to developing reliability, communication, and control in demanding environments."
Getting started
Free 30-minute phone consultations are offered, described as carrying "no commitment, pressure, or obligation." Ask about prices on that call.
