About The Dog Chapter
Positive reinforcement training in the Northeast Kingdom
The Dog Chapter is the dog training and behavior modification business of Jane Jackson, based in Sheffield and serving Lyndonville and the Northeast Kingdom area. Its tagline is "Less Stress, More Fun," and its goals for clients include relaxing walks, a great recall, polite greetings, cooperation for nail trims and vet visits, and harmony with other pets. Jane's stated mission is to help people understand the value of positive reinforcement training. She first held a clicker in early 2000 with her Jack Russell Terrier, Beetle, and became certified through the Karen Pryor Academy as a Certified Training Partner. She also works regularly with horses.
How training works
This is private training that starts online, so foundations are built at home without the stress of a stranger in the house. Each package includes the option of exchanging two half-hour virtual sessions for one hour-long in-person session, and extra in-person sessions can be added later. Packages cover early learning and later stages, from basic manners to more challenging problems.
Prices
An initial consult is $100. Packages are $210 for 3 weeks (six half-hour lessons), $420 for 6 weeks (12 lessons) and $575 for 9 weeks (18 lessons). A half-hour troubleshooting lesson for current or previous clients is $45, and travel beyond half an hour is billed at $40 an hour.
