About The K9 Encounter

Real-world training on the First Coast

The K9 Encounter is a Jacksonville dog training business serving the First Coast with a focus it calls dog training for the real world. Its goal is a lifelong bond between owner and dog, building confidence, stability and a sense of purpose so the dog is a steady companion on walks, car rides and family outings.

Method

The philosophy is that dogs should work with and for their owners every day through what the company calls pure communication rather than clickers, treats or toys, drawing on methods it traces back to people's long partnership with working dogs. Training takes place in numerous public environments to build focus and stability everywhere.

Programs

Programs include board and train with weekly progress updates and encouraged weekly sessions with owners, private lessons, group training, boarding, obedience, civil protection, search and rescue and tracking. After a board and train, trainers walk owners through every skill the dog has learned. The business also lists K9 sales and puppies.

What to ask
