About The Velvet Snout

Boarding and training in Richardson

The Velvet Snout is a pet care center at 1010 Hampshire Ln in Richardson offering all-suite dog and cat boarding, crate-free daycare, grooming and obedience training. Its training is led by Director of Training Josh Harris, and trainers use positive feedback to let a dog know it got something right, then teach owners to do the same.

Training programs

Board & Train is a 14 day stay with daily lessons in heel, sit, stay, down, come and finish heel, plus work on jumping, door dashing and leash pulling, with and without distractions. It ends with an hour-long handover session and includes 30 minute weekly follow-ups. The program is $2,100 with a $500 non-refundable deposit. Day Train covers the same cues over 10 weekdays with the dog going home each night, followed by 4 follow-up lessons, for $1,800. Custom training is available for more challenging dogs and refreshers. Owners meet the trainer before signing up.
