About Thunder’s Pack Canine Training

In-home training in Brookfield, built around the family

Thunder's Pack Canine Training works under the motto "Bridging the gap, bringing understanding between dog and man." The site describes its specialty as "taking dogs of all breeds, all ages, all temperaments, and making them loving, obedient members of your family," and is explicit about why the work happens at home: "The home environment is often where the behaviors emerge, thus making it the best place for the training to occur."

Programs

Group and private lessons are offered in puppy handling, basic dog obedience, advanced dog obedience and agility. For harder cases the site lists Difficult Dog 101, behavior modification and rehabilitating aggressive dogs — and notes the trainer is often called upon to help with dogs that are too hyperactive or aggressive to take part in group situations. Alongside training, the business offers private home boarding, pet taxi, pet sitting, dog walking and socialization.

Method in their own words

The approach is a pack-structure model delivered through the household: the dog's behavior, the site says, "is adjusted by its human family members, with Thunder's guidance, so that the family has the skill set and tools to maintain not only the behavior but the balance of their pack." The site adds, "I duplicate pack structure and pass this knowledge on to the family so that they can enjoy a balanced relationship," and describes techniques centered on helping owners understand their breed's traits and "finding a balance between the needs of the breed and what is socially acceptable in their current environment." Family members are integrated into training from the start.
